    Most people believe that anger is a negative emotion from which no good can come. Many people think that anger should not be expressed and that such feelings are sinful. This Trainers course based on the third edition of What's Good About Anger? and the Anger Management Institute Training manual will give participants a fresh perspective of anger, practical skills, spiritual references and how anger - which is part of the human experience - can be put to use for good.

    • DSM - mental health disorders associated with anger problems; readiness or contraindication for anger management treatment.
    • Skills/tools for: assessing/screening participants, evaluation of progress.
    • How to defuse hostility and manage behavior;
    • Effective anger prevention and control strategies, including: communication, time-out, problem-solving, forgiveness, relaxation, restructured thinking, conflict management, etc.
    • The role of emotional intelligence and empathy skills. Will provide teaching tools.

    Many counselors, social and mental health workers, law enforcement, probation officers, educators, chaplains, leaders, pastors and health professionals are electing to become certified to train clients, groups and students in anger management skills. Those completing this course may offer anger management classes, groups and coaching- awarding certificates to individuals required to complete anger management programs!

    About the Trainers/Presenters:

    Dr. Seigel Bartley, PhD, LPC-S, CAMS-V graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Theological Studies from Vision International University, where he serves as director of Christian Counseling. He went on to complete his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. Dr. Bartley is an ordained minister with over fifteen years of pastoral and counseling experience with children, adolescents, couples, adults, and families. He is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas and holds the Certified Anger Management Specialist-V (CAMS-V) credential from the National Anger Management Association. Dr. Bartley is a NAMA Anger Management Supervisor, Consultant and Diplomate. Dr. Bartley has served as an adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University since 2008.

    Dr. Joseph Cook, PhD, LPC-S, CAMS-IV is Assistant Professor of Counseling, Director, Master of Arts in Counseling, DBU North. Dr. Cook earned his B.A. at Howard Payne University; M.A.C., at Dallas Baptist University; M.Div. at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; D.Min., at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
